Community-Based Counseling That Meets You Where You Are

At Integrative Recovery Therapies we believe that healing should not be limited by geography, income, or circumstance. Our community-based counseling services are designed to extend care beyond traditional clinical walls and reach people who might otherwise fall through the cracks. Whether you are navigating addiction, mental health challenges, or the aftermath of incarceration, we are here to help you rebuild with dignity. We founded this practice because we saw too many people in the New Orleans area struggling without access to meaningful support. The systems that were supposed to help them often felt impersonal, punishing, or impossible to navigate. We knew there had to be a better way. Our outreach counseling in Metairie reflects our commitment to showing up for this community in real and practical ways.

What Is Community-Based Counseling

Community-based counseling is an approach to mental health care that prioritizes accessibility, connection, and meeting people where they are. Rather than expecting everyone to fit into a traditional office-based model, we bring services into the community and adapt to the real circumstances of people’s lives. This might mean providing counseling to individuals who are re-entering society after incarceration. It might mean partnering with local organizations to offer support where it is needed most. It might mean flexible scheduling, sliding scale fees, or simply treating every person who walks through our door with the respect and dignity they deserve. At Integrative Recovery Therapies our community mental health services in Louisiana are grounded in the same philosophy that guides all of our work: whole-person care that addresses mind, body, spirit, and relationships. We do not separate addiction from mental health. We do not treat symptoms without understanding context. And we do not give up on people when the work gets hard.

Local Counseling in New Orleans

New Orleans is a city unlike any other. The culture here is rich, vibrant, and deeply rooted in community. But it is also a city that has faced tremendous challenges. Addiction, poverty, trauma, and systemic inequity have left many families struggling to find stable ground. Our local counseling in New Orleans is designed with this context in mind. We are not a corporate treatment center that parachutes in from somewhere else. We are locals helping locals. Our founders came together through a shared love for this city and a deep concern about the impact of untreated addiction and mental health issues on individuals, families, and neighborhoods. When you work with Integrative Recovery Therapies you are working with people who understand the unique pressures and possibilities of life in this region. We know the culture. We know the challenges. And we are committed to being part of the solution.

Accessible Therapy in Metairie, LA

Accessibility is not just about location. It is about removing the barriers that prevent people from getting the help they need. At Integrative Recovery Therapies we are committed to providing accessible therapy in Metairie, LA that works for real people with real lives. We accept Medicaid and Medicare because we believe quality care should not be limited to those who can pay out of pocket. We offer evening IOP groups so that people can maintain work and family responsibilities while getting structured support. We keep our practice intentionally small so that every client receives personal attention rather than getting lost in a system. Accessibility also means creating an environment where people feel safe to show up as they are. Many of the people we serve have had negative experiences with treatment in the past. They have been judged, labeled, or made to feel like failures. At Integrative Recovery Therapies we do things differently. We prioritize trust, consistency, and trauma-informed care so that healing can happen at a pace that feels safe.

Outreach Counseling in Metairie

Our outreach counseling in Metairie extends the reach of our practice into the broader community. We believe that some of the people who need support the most are also the least likely to seek it out on their own. By meeting people where they are, we can break down barriers and open doors to recovery. A significant part of our outreach work focuses on justice-involved individuals. People who are preparing for or navigating reintegration after incarceration face unique challenges. They may be dealing with trauma, broken relationships, limited employment options, and the stigma of a criminal record. Our re-entry counseling services address these challenges head on with a focus on emotional regulation, identity reconstruction, relational repair, and practical life skills. This work reflects our commitment to equity, dignity, and community impact. According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, individuals involved in the criminal justice system have significantly higher rates of substance use disorders and mental health conditions than the general population. Providing accessible, compassionate care to this population is not just good practice. It is essential to building healthier communities.

Who We Serve

Our community-based counseling services are designed to serve a wide range of individuals and families in the Metairie and New Orleans area. We work with adults navigating addiction, anxiety, depression, trauma, and co-occurring disorders. We work with families affected by a loved one’s substance use or mental health challenges. We work with couples seeking to repair trust and improve communication. And we work with justice-involved individuals preparing to rebuild their lives. We also serve populations that are often underserved by traditional mental health systems. This includes first responders who face unique occupational stressors, LGBTQIA+ individuals seeking affirming care, and people who have had negative experiences with treatment in the past and need a provider they can trust. No matter who you are or where you are starting from, you will be treated like family at Integrative Recovery Therapies. That is not a slogan. It is a promise that shows up in how we listen, how we speak, and how we stay with you through the hard parts.
