About Us
Our Mission
To provide compassionate mental health care Louisiana residents deserve by addressing the whole person: mind, body, spirit, and relationships. At Integrative Recovery Therapy we believe recovery is not about compliance or perfection. It is about connection, learning to regulate emotions, repairing relationships, and building a life worth protecting. We exist for people and families in Metairie and New Orleans who have been dismissed, rushed, or treated like a number. Here you are treated like family. That is not a slogan. It is a promise that shows up in how we listen, how we speak, how we hold accountability, and how we stay with you even when the work is hard.

Our Addiction Treatment Philosophy
At Integrative Recovery Therapy our mission is built on a simple belief: people are not their diagnoses. You are not a problem to be managed or a case number to be processed. You are a human being shaped by experience, capable of growth, and worthy of dignity. Our addiction treatment philosophy reflects this belief in everything we do.
We founded this practice because we saw too many people fall through the cracks of a system that was supposed to help them. People were being treated in silos where addiction was addressed in one place and mental health in another. Families were left out of the process or treated as afterthoughts. Clients were shamed, rushed, or made to feel like failures when they struggled. We knew there had to be a better way.
Our founders came together through a shared love for the New Orleans community and a growing alarm at the devastating effects of addiction and untreated mental health issues on individuals, families, and neighborhoods. Each of us has witnessed suffering up close. Not as an abstract concept but as something that touched our own lives. That lived experience shapes how we approach this work every single day.
Whole Person Recovery
Our approach to whole person recovery means we never treat symptoms in isolation. Addiction does not exist in a vacuum. Neither does anxiety, depression, trauma, or any other challenge you may be facing. These experiences are connected to your relationships, your history, your nervous system, and your sense of meaning and purpose.
When you come to Integrative Recovery Therapy we look at the full picture. We ask about your life, your family, your work, your fears, and your hopes. We want to understand what you are carrying and what has brought you to this moment. Only then can we build a treatment plan that actually fits your life.
Whole person recovery addresses four interconnected domains. Mind refers to your thoughts, beliefs, emotional processing, and insight. Body refers to your nervous system, stress responses, and physical experience of emotions. Spirit refers not to religion but to your sense of purpose, values, and identity. Relationships refers to your attachment patterns, family dynamics, and social connections. When all four domains are addressed together, lasting change becomes possible.
Too many treatment programs focus only on behavior change or symptom reduction. They teach you to white knuckle your way through cravings or distract yourself from painful emotions. But that is not recovery. That is survival. At Integrative Recovery Therapy we want more for you than survival. We want you to build a life that feels worth living.
Compassionate Mental Health Care Louisiana
We believe compassionate mental health care Louisiana families need starts with how you are treated from the very first phone call. You should never have to fight to be seen or heard. You should never be talked down to or made to feel ashamed for seeking help.
At Integrative Recovery Therapy compassion is not a buzzword. It is an operational standard. It shows up in how we listen without interrupting. It shows up in how we speak without judgment. It shows up in how we hold accountability without shaming. And it shows up in how we stay with you even when the work gets hard.
Compassion also means honesty. We will not tell you what you want to hear just to make you feel better in the moment. Real care sometimes means naming hard truths. But we will always do so with respect and with your best interests at heart. If we are not the right fit for you we will tell you and help connect you to someone who is.
We are a small practice by design. We do not chase volume. We choose depth. That means you will work with clinicians who actually know your story. You will not have to repeat yourself every session or feel like you are starting over each time. Continuity of care is not a luxury. It is essential to real healing.
Trauma Informed Treatment New Orleans
Many people who struggle with addiction or mental health challenges have experienced trauma. Sometimes it is obvious like abuse, violence, or a major loss. Other times it is less visible like chronic stress, neglect, or growing up in a chaotic household. Either way, trauma shapes how your brain and body respond to the world.
Research from the National Institute on Drug Abuse confirms that trauma and chronic stress significantly increase vulnerability to addiction. Adverse childhood experiences are associated with a greater likelihood of developing substance use disorders later in life. This is why our approach always considers what has happened to you, not just what is wrong with you.
Our trauma informed treatment New Orleans approach means we assume that trauma may be part of your story even if you have not named it yet. We prioritize safety and trust in every interaction. We move at your pace. We never push you to disclose more than you are ready to share. And we use evidence based methods like trauma focused therapy, nervous system regulation, and mindfulness to help you heal.
Being trauma informed also means we understand why traditional treatment approaches fail some people. If you have been retraumatized by systems that were supposed to help you, we get it. We are not here to repeat those patterns. We are here to offer something different.
What We Believe
We believe addiction and mental health challenges are not moral failures. They are deeply human experiences that deserve the same seriousness and care as any physical illness.
We believe trust is the foundation of recovery. Many people come to us after being hurt by systems that labeled them, talked down to them, or made them feel invisible. At Integrative Recovery Therapy trust is rebuilt slowly, honestly, and safely.
We believe accountability and compassion can coexist. Being held accountable does not have to mean being shamed. It means having someone in your corner who cares enough to be honest with you and to walk alongside you as you grow.
We believe recovery is not just about abstinence. It is about building a meaningful, stable life. A life with connection, purpose, and dignity. A life worth protecting.
We believe families matter. Addiction and mental health challenges affect everyone in the system. Family members deserve support, education, and inclusion in the recovery process. They are not secondary participants. They are part of the healing ecosystem.
We believe in equity and access. That is why we serve Medicaid and Medicare populations, work with justice involved individuals, and strive to create a welcoming environment for everyone regardless of background, identity, or history.
What We Will Never Do
Our mission is also defined by what we refuse to do. We will never use punitive or shame based treatment. We will never take a one size fits all approach to your care. We will never prioritize volume over quality. We will never separate mental health from substance use as if they are unrelated. And we will never abandon you when the work becomes difficult.
These are not aspirational values. They are non negotiables that guide every clinical decision we make.
Our Promise
When you choose Integrative Recovery Therapy you can expect honesty, non judgment, and real partnership. You will be treated as a peer, not a patient. You will never be just another census number. And you will have a team that stays with you through the hard parts.
Recovery is not linear. There will be setbacks. There will be hard days. There will be moments when you want to give up. That does not mean you have failed. It means you are human. And we will be here for all of it.
This is our mission. This is our promise. This is Integrative Recovery Therapy.
